Your Gala Support Goes a Long Way!

The Annual Gala is the biggest party of the year. But it’s also so much more than a party. When you attend the Gala, you are supporting thousands of members of your community who rely on the JCC each day. Seniors are able to visit the JCC thanks to our bus transportation pick-up and drop-off service; once here, those same seniors are treated to a hot meal—perhaps the only one they’ll eat that day—along with fitness and educational programs. Jewish children get to experience the joy of swimming, being in nature, learning new skills like our high-ropes course, and so much more, each year at summer camp. Our preschool is among the best of the best and is the only full-day Jewish early childhood program offered in Columbus. So many services vital for the Jewish community and beyond are funded in large part by the dollars raised at the Annual Gala, enabling seniors to remain independent at home and families across central Ohio to stay connected to Judaism. The JCC touches so many lives throughout the year, and it’s all because of the generosity of your giving.

This year’s “Throwback Thursday” Gala will return to the Center of it all, right here at 1125 College Avenue, on Thursday, March 12. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., guests will indulge in an array of Chef Toney’s Kosher gourmet finger foods like meat and veggie mini-sandwiches, a tater tot bar, and tantalizing desserts. Bliss in a Bottle, World of Beer, and Middle West Spirits will be on hand with wine, beer, and vodka tastings, including a surprise signature OYO cocktail.

The “magical night of musical memories,” according to Gala Co-chair Carol Luper, will appeal to every generation with a live performance by The Spinners, who will be singing all their classic hits like “I’ll Be Around,” “Working My Way Back to You,” “Could It Be I’m Falling in Love,” “Then Came You,” and “It’s a Shame”—songs you’ll instantly recognize when you hear them, explained Gala Co-Chair Ben Zacks. With 12 gold records and four lead singers, The Spinners are more popular than ever in the new millennium. Local favorite The Edelstein Family Band will also perform their family-friendly music.
