Holding the Shofar high up.
This New Year, 5769, promises to be an exciting one. On Sunday, Oct. 5, the JCC will celebrate an historic new beginning with a groundbreaking ceremony at 3:30 p.m. to mark the commencement of construction of the new Northeast Jewish Community Campus at 150 E. Granville Rd., in New Albany. This new, state-of-the-art facility will be home to the JCC Preschool, and have a multipurpose gymnasium and space for community activities. The Columbus Jewish Day School will also be co-locating on the campus. This new campus will offer key components to the future of Jewish life for our community. All JCC members and the entire community are invited to the celebration.
What makes this event especially meaningful is that just 10 years ago, there were only a couple dozen children enrolled at the JCC Preschool when it was located at our first North East home in Temple Beth Shalom. Today, the preschool enrollment tops 150. Many people along the way have worked hard so that we could reach this day. As we celebrate this new beginning, we do so by standing on the shoulders of all of those parents, sponsors, and Jewish partners who have come before us and with us.
The Shofar blast sends an awakening call. It is a call not only to reflection, but to action, to both thought and deed. "It Begins With the Children" - our Capital Campaign in collaboration with the Columbus Jewish Federation, reflects that our children are a new beginning and carry with them our hopes for a bright future. This campaign will be a legacy for the JCC and | enhance our Early Childhood programs at all three locations.
I hope you will join us as the JCC goes from strength to strength in the new year.
From all of us at the JCC, we wish you a Shana Tova, a happy, health and peaceful New Year.
Sincerely,
Carol Folkerth
JCC Executive Director
