The Columbus Jewish Film Festival committee is busy screening international features, documentaries and short films for the upcoming festival, slated for March 7-12, 2009.
"Although I can't be specific yet about which films we're selecting, I can tell you that this year's Film Festival is one you won't want to miss," said Melva Schottenstein, who is this year's co-chair, along with Marjie Coopersmith and Carole Genshaft. "The committee has been screening films from around the globe for the best and most current international films to entertain our audiences."
Film Festival Director Emily Schuss noted this year is the event's 5th anniversary, having entertained thousands of audience members with films ranging from the thought-provoking to the comedic. "It's hard to believe that this little speck of an idea has become the large annual celebration it is today," she said, crediting Schottenstein, Coopersmith, and Gigi Fried with germinating and nurturing the festival's growth over the years.
"How did five years go by in five minutes?" asked Schottenstein with a laugh. "It doesn't seem possible. But I do know that this will be a festival you won't want to miss. We're planning on another Sunday documentary day and a symposium on diversity issues, plus four additional days of award-winning films. This will be our best year yet!"
