Helen Nutis and Ben Zacks, winner of the 2008 Helen Nutis Volunteer Mitzvah Award.

The JCC will hold its annual meeting on Tuesday, May 26, at 7 p.m. in the Roth-Resler Theater. Jon Young will serve as chair for the event, which will include reports on the JCC's budget for fiscal year 2009, as well as updates on programs for young children, tweens and teens, cultural arts, sports and fitness, and adults. In addition, the Board of Trustees for 2009-2010 will be introduced, as well as special recognition given to JCC committees and their respective chairs.

Each year as part of the JCC's Annual Meeting, a number of significant awards are presented. JCC members are invited to nominate a volunteer or an outstanding Judaic program on two of the awards:

  • Rabbi Nathan and Sylvia Gaynor Jewish Cultural Award - Nominations are for unique, innovative and outstanding Jewish cultural and educational programs at the JCC. The Gaynor family created this award to recognize on-going Judaic activities at the JCC and their contribution to our community.
  • Helen Nutis Volunteer Mitzvah Award - This award recognizes outstanding volunteer efforts, exemplified by our long time volunteer, Helen Nutis. Nominations are for individuals or groups who have given outstanding volunteer contributions this year to assist the JCC.

If you or someone you know would like to make a nomination for one (or both) of these awards, please send a note to Carol Folkerth at cfolkerth@columbusjcc.org, or JCC of Greater Columbus, 1125 College Ave., Columbus, OH 43209.
