Hurry! Only a Few Openings Left for Circus Camp!

The JCC is once again offering Circus Camp as one of its "specialty" Summer Camps this year. Circus Camp will take place from July 6 to 10, with auditions taking place on Sunday, July 5, beginning at 2 p.m.

"We're thrilled to bring back Circus of the Kids for the fifth year," said Naomi Friedman, JCC director of Children, Youth and Camping. "Circus of the Kids travels around the country teaching circus acts to children of all ages. It's the only program of its kind in the U.S., and the JCC is proud to host it once again."

Samara Chodosh, the JCC's Jewish Experiences for Teens (JET) director, is once again serving as the Circus Camp director. "Campers attending this specialty camp are transformed into Circus Performers throughout the week," she said. "In small groups, circus campers learn and practice the art of one of 15 different circus acts, including trick roller skating, trapeze, fire-eating, aerial ballet, mini trampoline, and other circus routines."

When campers are not practicing for Circus of the Kids, they participate in a broad range of other circus and camp activities, such as Circus Games, learning how to clown, mime, juggle, arts and crafts, swimming, sports and much more, she said.

"At the end of the week, the circus stars of tomorrow proudly present two full-fledged, professional circus performances for their fellow campers and community, complete with costumes," said Chodosh.

Additional specialty camps offered this summer include: Campers in the Kitchen, Clay and Craft, Safari Camp, Flag Football Camp, Magic Camp, Basketball Camp, Skyhawks Skateboard Camp, and Summer Kick-Off Camp. New this year are: All Sport Camp, Columbus Crew Soccer Camp, Horseback Riding Camp, Theater Camp, and Tumbling Camp.
