The first annual Maj Jongg-a-Thon, held at the JCC on May 17, raised nearly $1,000 for the JCC's New Horizons 60+ seniors group.
For four hours, 36 players participated in the game, which can be compared to a cross between dominoes and bridge, said Debbie Vinocur, JCC New Horizons and Senior Adults program director. "Everyone had such a good time that we hope to make this an annual event," she said. "We owe a special thanks to Committee Chair Joni Sucan, without whom this event could not have been possible."
