Justin Roberts will appear in concert at the JCC on Sunday, April 6 at 4 p.m.
Justin Roberts' music connects with kids in a unique way. Whether it's the surfer style "oohs" and "aahs" in Day Camp or the alliteration in Willy Was a Whale, Roberts always seems to find a way to give his songs that little something extra that makes them stick in your head.
His 5th album, Meltdown, has made him a favorite of the sippy-cup set, and his videos can be seen on the preschool cable channel, Noggin. His albums have earned four Parents Choice Gold Awards, and he has been featured at prestigious festivals including Seattle's Bumbershoot and Chicago's Ravinia. He has been written up in numerous magazines and newspapers - ranging from The New York Times to Sesame Street Parents Magazine.
"Justin started his career in the late 90s as the leader of an indie-rock band and by day, worked as a Montessori preschool teacher," said Nili Talis, JCC Infant and Toddler department director. "It wasn't long before he was writing and singing songs for his students, who demanded more. After making a home recording of some of his songs, he sent them out as gifts and one of his friends - a record producer - suggested they record the songs professionally and make a CD. The rest, as they say, is history."
The concert, to be held at the JCC on Sunday, April 6, at 4 p.m., is presented by the JCC's three preschools and the JCC Children, Youth, and Camping Department. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children if purchased by April 1, and $15 for adults and $5 for children thereafter.
