Highlights of the 2009-2010 JCC Annual Meeting on May 24 included the presentation of the Helen Nutis Volunteer Mitzvah Award, the Shehechyanu Teacher of the Year Award, the Gaynor Jewish Cultural Award, the Don Erkis/Lou Berliner High School Jewish Scholar/Athlete Award, and the Joel Dinkin Professional Development Award. Since opening our building on College Avenue 27 years ago, the JCC has grown in services, programs, and membership to the point where we now have outgrown the available space. The JCC recently launched its It Begins With The Children Capital and Endowment Campaign to explore four new avenues for growth.

    Melton Mini-School Graduation/Debbie Goodman Farewell to be Held June 10 - Graduation for the Melton Mini School class of 2010 will be held Thursday, June 10 at 7 p.m. at the JCC. In addition, long-time Melton teacher Debbie Goodman also will be honored. All Melton graduates, their friends and family are invited to attend.     Israeli Quilts on Exhibit Beginning June 11 - A collection of art quilts made by Israeli artists will be on exhibit at the JCC beginning Friday, June 11, and lasting through the summer. Be sure to mark your calendars today for this beautiful exhibition of "Local Visions - Landscape of Israel."

    JCC Plans 'Fun Day at the J' for June 13; Summer Memberships Now Open - Summer is right around the corner and now is the time to tell your friends, family and neighbors about all the JCC has to offer - especially events such as the "Fun Day at the J" on Sunday, June 13 from 12 to 3 p.m. at the JCC's outdoor pool!     Set a Summertime Fitness Goal of Competing in the JCC Independence Triathlon - The JCC Independence Triathlon, scheduled for Sunday, July 4 at the JCC Hoover Family Park, is a sprint (short distance) triathlon consisting of a 300m swim, a 12 mile bike, and a 3.1 mile run. It's the perfect summertime fitness goal! For more info, click here.

    Save the Date for Sports Spectacular! - Save the date for this year's Sports Spectacular - Tuesday, Aug. 24. This year's event, chaired by David Goldstein and Scott Weisman, will feature a golf outing on at the Pinnacle Country Club. Proceeds from Sports Spectacular directly benefit the JCC's youth and adult sports programs, senior activities and children and youth camp. Plans also are underway for a special recognition event for the Charles Solomon Award winner and an induction into the JCC Sports Hall of Fame.     JCC Now Accepts Discover Cards - The JCC now accepts Discover cards for payments of purchases made at the JCC. Now, along with American Express, Visa, and MasterCard, payments may be made for a wide variety of programs, fees, and purchases at the JCC's front desk at the College Avenue location.
