Camp Hoover Adds Enhanced
State-of-the-Art Ropes Course

High Ropes at Hoover

The JCC Summer Camp program still is several months away, but considerable work is being completed at Camp Hoover to prepare for this summer's camping fun.

The High Ropes Course at Camp Hoover is the highlight of the summer experience for many of our campers, from first timers to our veteran campers and veteran staff - everyone wants to test their skills on the course. In addition, JCC member families spend Sundays at Hoover, the Jewish community uses Hoover for activities and programs and groups rent out the facility for picnics, corporate events and team building experiences.

For more than 17 years, the current High Ropes Course has served the community and hundreds of campers of all ages. Thanks to the generosity of the David and Joseph Berman Endowment fund, the JCC has been able add a new, state-of-the-art High Ropes Course at Camp Hoover. The new ropes course named The Jacobs High Ropes and Challenge Course is a completely new and different course for Hoover and will be unique in Central Ohio. It will have two different levels, allowing campers to "age up" into the higher level of the course.

The course will feature 15 elements, a climbing tower that can accommodate 4 children, zip line and a "dango duo." Out of the 15 elements, all but 3 will be completely different from the old course. Many of the new elements are designed for 2-4 campers to do together, encouraging more team work and collaboration. The new ropes course will be able to hold up to 45 campers at a time, allowing many more campers to participate in this most popular part of camp.

"The Jacobs High Ropes and Challenge Course will take the Hoover experience to the next level of excellence for campers, Jewish community organizations and partners," said Ben Brant, Camp Hoover Director. "This gift will enable future generations of campers to experience the magic that is Hoover."

Camp Hoover is a day camp program for youth ages 9 through 13 in the Central Ohio area. Camp Hoover offers youth activities in areas of boating, arts and crafts, nature, trail biking, archery, swimming, athletic sports, and much more. The 27 acre site on Hoover Reservoir was donated to the JCC by Millard Cummins in 1954.
