JCCNAP Participates In 'Pinwheels' Campaign

New Albany Preschoolers
Preschoolers at the JCC New Albany Preschool prepared their pinwheels for installation on March 31.

April is child abuse awareness month, and the JCC New Albany Preschool is proud to have taken part in Prevent Child Abuse Ohio's 4th annual "Pinwheels for Prevention" campaign. This initiative, originally developed by Prevent Child Abuse Georgia, is designed to raise awareness and bring attention to child abuse and neglect in communities throughout Ohio.

The JCC New Albany Preschool placed 350 pinwheels into the grass area located at Market Street and Johnstown Road in New Albany the morning of March 31. These 350 pinwheels represent only 5% of the 6,954 reported cases of child abuse in Franklin County in 2007. Age-appropriate education also was provided to preschoolers and their families.

Lisa Pinzone, Chair of the JCC New Albany Preschool's community service committee, said "We are honored to help Prevent Child Abuse Ohio in their mission to stop the abuse and neglect of Ohio's children by serving as a resource for collaboration, information, and education, and delighted that our participation in this very special event serves the broader community."
