JCC North Celebrates 'Week of the Young Child'

Children and parents at the JCC North Preschool celebrated the Week of the Young Child in grand style April 13-19, with guests every day and a breakfast with parents one morning.

"The Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children [NAEYC]," said Nikki Henry, JCC North director. "The purpose of the Week of the Young Child is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families, and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs."

Henry explained that at JCC North, the celebration was done by having guests come in and read their favorite story to the children each day. Guest readers included Linda Fischer (pictured above reading to the children) and Andrea Adkins, as well as Henry. "On the last day, we had Breakfast With Your Child, and JCC assistant executive director Tim Kauffman came in and made waffles for everyone," said Henry.
