The Diamond Family Fitness Center is adding six new pieces of cardio equipment in May. "Specifically, we will be installing three treadmills, two Adaptive Motion Trainers - or 'AMTs' - and one CardioWave," said Beth McCullough, Fitness Program Director. "In addition, we will be installing a 'Hack Squat' leg press machine and a new cable crossover, which will replace the existing one. The new cable crossover will have a heavier weight stack so that more members may use it."
McCullough said the treadmills will come equipped with a USB port called a "key reader," which can be pre-programmed by a personal trainer. "Members will be able to purchase a key, which is similar to a flash drive for a computer," she said. "The key reader allows the member to save one or several treadmill workouts that have been designed just for them. Additionally, the treadmills will have a personal viewing screen that is integrated into the screen with the treadmill controls."
She explained that the "AMT" is a cross between a stepper and an elliptical machine. "We were able to have one here on a trial basis, and the members all loved it," she said, adding that the viewing screen on the AMTs will be located above the LED screen with the controls, rather than integrated into it.
"The CardioWave is a machine that tones the lower body," said McCullough. "The movement, to an extent, simulates in-line skating. This machine will have the same integrated viewing screen that the treadmills have."
McCullough said the 'Hack Squat' leg press is a plate-loaded machine that will challenge all those who use it, while helping members maintain proper form and technique. "TechnoGym, the manufacturer of the treadmills, cardio wave and hack squat machine, is considered the 'gold standard' by many in the fitness industry.
"We are very excited about this equipment and are looking forward to introducing our members to the next level of fitness equipment," said McCullough.
