Pianist Don Haines recently entertained the New Horizons 60+ group for active seniors during their lunchtime activities. The performance was sponsored by the Uncle Davey Fund at the Columbus Jewish Foundation, named in honor of David Meyer, who passed away last year. Known to many as "Uncle Davey," he often attended the JCC's noon lunch and enjoyed the many friends he made over the years. "He loved live music and being entertained," said family member Lynn Stan. "It is Uncle Davey's spirit and love of life that inspired his friends and relatives to create the Uncle Davey Fund. The purpose of the Uncle Davey Fund is to help support the events that he enjoyed during his life, and a reminder that you do not have to be a 'mover and shaker' to participate and have an impact on your community, and a small gesture can make a difference." The Don Haines performance marks the third Uncle Davey event underwritten by the fund. Folk singer Leslie Zak and the Mazal Tones both have performed for the seniors.
