Shem Tov Leadership Award

For her work with the JCC New Albany Preschool and the JCC Board of Trustees' Northeast Committee, Laura Weiser is the recipient of the 2008 Lawrence D. Schaffer Shem Tov Leadership Award. Marc Fishel presented her with the award during the JCC Annual Meeting on May 27.

Currently serving her fifth year on the JCC New Albany Preschool Parent Committee, Laura has served for two years as the co-chairperson and for two years as treasurer. She also has served on the community wide Early Childhood Education Council, along with co-chairs of the two other JCC preschool sites.

Now in the second year of a four-year committment to the JCC Board's Northeast Committee, this architect and stay-at-home mom serves as an architectural and design liaison for the JCC's Northeast project. She also has assisted in the re-design of the JCCNAP playground.

Laura's community activities include serving on the Columbus Jewish Federation's Leadership 21 program, Children's Hospital TWIG #178, and the citywide Parade of Homes Committee. Currently, she is working on a planning and design project for Urological Associates, Inc. The gourmet group of which she is a part, Cooking with Friends in New Albany, has spent the past few years developing and publishing a cookbook entitled The Signature Collection. Proceeds from the sale of the cookbook are going directly to the Mid Ohio Food Bank.
