Naomi Friedman
The JCC proudly announces the appointment of Naomi Friedman as the new Director of Children, Youth and Camping.
Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Friedman grew up immersed in the Jewish community, as her father, Steve, worked for several Jewish non-profit organizations in the city. Growing up, Friedman spent her summers at Camp Wise, the Jewish overnight camp affiliated with the Cleveland JCC. "This is where my passion and love for camp truly sparked," she said.
Friedman also spent her high school years dedicated to USY, which lead her to pursue a Jewish Studies degree in college. During the summers of 2000-2002, she spent her time working at Camp Wise, both as a counselor as well as the Judaic Director. Friedman graduated in 2004 from The Ohio State University with a B.A. in Jewish Studies and a minor in political science.
Immediately after college, Friedman moved to Atlanta, Ga., where she was the Youth Director for a conservative synagogue. There, she worked with children in grades 3-12 to plan a myriad of programs ranging from social to educational to religious. She also has served as the Director of Student Development and Outreach for Hillel at OSU.
Friedman said she is thrilled to be in her new role. "I am looking forward to spending this summer at camp," she said. "I believe that Jewish camping can really set the foundation for children and can help to shape their Jewish experiences to build a strong future Jewish community. I look forward to meeting all of you and your children and helping them to discover their inner super hero, as well as creating fond memories that will last a lifetime!"
