Little Minyan and J-Link Plan Northwest Community Shabbat

The JCC's J-Link, in conjunction with the Little Minyan, will sponsor a "Garden, Grub, and Greet Shabbat" at the Whetstone Park of Roses on July 18, from 4:30 to 10 p.m.

"Join us for an unforgettable Shabbat experience," said Lindsay Folkerth, J-Link Director. "At 4:30 p.m., we will engage in some tikkun olam as we help to maintain this beautiful garden by deadheading and weeding the rose beds. Don't worry - we will be sure to take some time to stop and smell the roses before meeting in the Whetstone shelterhouse for a picnic supper, singing, Israeli dancing, an inter-generational crafts project and finally, a Shabbat service. Can't get away that early? Don't worry, you don't have to miss out on all the fun. Come when you can and stay as long as you'd like."

Folkerth said the event will follow a schedule of:

  • 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. - Gardening
  • 5 p.m. - Crafts Project
  • 7 p.m. - BYO Picnic Dinner (Alcoholic beverages are a violation of our permit, so please bring only soft drinks - no beer or wine - with your meal.)
  • 7:30 p.m. - Israeli Dancing
  • 8 p.m. - Erev Shabbat service with Oneg following immediately after
