A special meeting of the JCC Board of Trustees was held July 28 to review preliminary plans for the JCC/Columbus Jewish Federation (CJF) $5 million Capital and Endowment Campaign. Sharing information about the effort were Marsha Hurwitz, President and CEO of CJF, and Jackie Jacobs, Executive Director of the Columbus Jewish Foundation.
When former JCC President Mike Canter and his wife, Vicki, brought their three daughters to the JCC years ago, they could not have foreseen that all three - plus their respective children - also would one day be experiencing the JCC as "a wonderful and special place to celebrate many of the life cycle events, and unique occasions and activities with each other and with the larger Jewish community."
Each fall, the Columbus Jewish community celebrates the achievements of its adult athletes in a split-format event that is partly a day of sports and camaraderie and partly an evening fundraising reception. Known as Sports Spectacular, the event is definitely all fun - and this year, the entertaining activities have gotten even bigger.
Jennifer Wilkinson has been named the new director of JCC North Preschool, replacing Nikki Henry, who now is serving as the director of JCC College Avenue Preschool.
