Preschoolers at the JCC's three preschool sites have a new
friend - Peer K. Explorer!
With this loveable doll's help, and guidance from An Ethical Start's
innovative curriculum, we give our children a head start in the
lifelong process of learning right from wrong. Peer K. and An Ethical
Start help teach our children valuable lessons - like how to play
well with others, how to make others feel included, and how to be
strong and avoid bad situations.
Our preschool site directors and teachers are preparing to head to
Maryland in October for intensive training on this new curriculum.
An Ethical Start is a values based curriculum, produced and developed
by the JCC Association and funded by generous grants from Steven
Spielberg's Righteous Persons Foundation. This innovative and
progressive program teaches Jewish values and ethics from Pirkei Avot,
one of the books of the Talmud, the body of Jewish civil and
ceremonial law. The curriculum is supplemented with a CD of original
songs, illustrated books, a doll and a family participation guide.
