New Horizons for Active Adults
Did you know that the New Horizons 60+ Group for Active Adults, which was originally called the ‘Golden Age Club,’ has been in operation at the JCC since 1949 to address the needs and overall well-being of the senior adult population?
The group provides socialization, activities and programming each week. Special programs include health and wellness discussions, outings to Ballet Met, Metro Parks, Jefferson Outlet Mall, ProMusica, WinterFair, Governor’s Mansion, La Comedia Dinner Theater, Senior Theater Days, Catco and the Columbus Museum of Art. Ongoing programs include Jewish festival celebrations, discussions with Rabbis, bingo, line dancing, chair exercise, birthday celebrations, diabetes screenings, flu shots, quarterly Shabbat dinners, Sunday morning Brunch and entertainment. Ongoing each year, the New Horizons Group hosts the Tuskegee Airman, Fire Fighter Alonzo King of the Columbus Fire Department as well as other speakers and community members.
In addition to our wonderful programs, the JCC also partners with LifeCare Alliance to provide senior adults with more than 13,000 nutritionally balanced Kosher meals annually, a program for which the JCC recently was awarded the LifeCare Alliance Community Partner Award.
