Madrichim (Counselor in Training) Program

For entering 9th graders

Join us for this great revamped program with a new name! The Madrichim program is a great transition from camper to counselor!

Participants receive extensive hands-on training and experience working with campers at Camps Chaverim, Ora and Arye, while developing their knowledge of child development, leadership and programming skills.

In the Madrichim program the participants will rotate through each of the Eastside camps for the first 3 weeks – then choose where they'd like to work for the 4th week. Madrichim participants will develop and improve their programming and leadership skills by planning and implementing an activity for each camp.

All Madrichim applicants must complete an application with references prior to signing up for the program. (Applications are available through the Camp Office and via download below). When the application is received, the Madrichim Director will set up an interview with the applicant. Those accepted to the Madrichim program must attend Madrichim orientation (dates provided during interview).

Upon completion of the Madrichim program participants may choose to volunteer for the remaining camp weeks (subject to approval by the Children, Youth and Camping Director). All Madrichim participants will be invited to attend an Appreciation Party given by the JCC during the week of July 9th.

Madrichim participants who wish to use camp transportation to travel to/from the JCC may do so at NO additional fee. Please check off bus stop choice on the registration form, but DO NOT fill in a transportation fee.

Apply

1. Complete the entire Madrichim Program application.
2. Mail the completed program application to the JCC Camp Office, 1125 College Avenue, Columbus, OH 43209.
3. Put your name on the top of each of the three Child Day Care Employee Reference Forms. Have each of the references listed on your application fill out these forms and mail or fax them directly to the camp office as soon as possible (fax: 614-231-8222).
4. You will be notified about the JCC's interest in your application. An interview will be scheduled within four weeks of receipt of your application.
