At the tennis open house, the JCC will introduce Tennis Pros Marc Wurtzman and Robert Postma, who will be on-hand to lead fun skill games, light tennis drills, and help everyone, from beginners to experienced tennis players of all ages, practice their swings and more.
JCC members can see the difference on the refurbished tennis courts and check out all the new program offerings that Wurtzman and Postma will lead beginning late this spring. At the open house, members can learn about the special 2015 tennis pricing and register for any and all of the new tennis offerings, including USTA women’s tennis leagues, multi-age group tennis classes, private tennis lessons, adult drills and open play, and a cardio tennis class featuring a fast-pace workout comprised of tennis drills.
JCC Board President Lisa Newmark encourages the community to come ready to set their summer tennis schedule at the April 12 event. She can’t wait for members to experience the enhanced tennis courts. “The JCC is very proud of our newly refurbished tennis courts, and we want as many members as possible to make good use of them. The JCC has a history of quality tennis programs and we are excited to be offering a full range of programs from juniors through adults. We are especially excited to be offering a USTA Woman’s league, which gives players in the Bexley area a chance to compete locally in this Columbus wide program,” said Newmark.
USPTA certified Tennis Pro Robert Postma is excited to share his passion for tennis with others. “In tennis love means nothing, but in life it is everything… and I have made my love my life,” he said. Postma was a four-year letter winner in tennis at Wittenberg University, and a 2001 ITA Doubles Semi Finalist. To the JCC he brings years of teaching experience from working as Head Pro at Brookside Golf and Country Club and as an instructor at the Player’s Club. He currently coaches tennis at Capital University.
Marc Wurtzman is also a USPTA certified Tennis Pro. He has more than a decade of teaching experience from tennis and country clubs throughout the Midwest and currently teaches at the Olympic Indoor Tennis Club. Wurtzman’s love of tennis began at a young age. After earning the title of New York State High School Singles Champion in 1993, he was ranked #38 nationally in the USTA Juniors. He then achieved success as Team Captain and #1 Singles players on The Ohio State University’s tennis team in 1997 after playing all four years. “I am extremely excited for Robert and I to help spark interest and enthusiasm to the sport of tennis here at the JCC,” said Wurtzman.
