At the Jewish Community Center of Greater Columbus, we create friendships that last a lifetime. We educate and care for children, challenge and inspire adults, and provide a welcoming Jewish space for the community.

Currently, there are more than 6,500 members of the JCC representing approximately 3,800 households in Central Ohio. With locations in east, northeast and northwest Columbus, the JCC is committed to continuing to play a significant role in community life in Central Ohio. Each year, over 200,000 people come through our doors to vote, donate blood, receive health screenings and immunizations, take classes, attend camp, preschool, shows, exhibits and to play sports.

Each year, nearly 2,000 people of all ages and fitness levels use our JCC’s state-of-the-art fitness facilities weekly to maintain their health and well-being. Approximately 500 children ages 6 weeks to 5 years attend Early Childhood Programs at the JCC’s three ECE sites, where they begin to form their Jewish identity. Nearly 700 children and youth swam, played and learned at JCC summer camps this year. Children are making Jewish memories and friendships to last a lifetime.

The JCC serves 13,000 freshly prepared Kosher lunches each year to our frail elderly adults and provides intellectually stimulating programming. For many, this is their only hot meal of the day. We take pride in improving the daily lives of all the people in our community.

• Employees working a regular schedule & seasonal employees may be eligible for a JCC Membership;

AQUATICS

» LIFEGUARDS (pdf)
The safety and well-being of all persons using the pool is the primary concern and responsibility of the lifeguard position. This is accomplished through the proper enforcement of all the Jewish Community Center policies, procedures, and rules regarding pool use. Optimally, by doing this, being alert, and being prepared to act in an emergency at all times, accidents will be prevented.

WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTORS (pdf)
Instruct students on proper water safety while adhering to all policies and procedures set forth by the Aquatics Manual. Plan and ensure students’ progression in learning water safety skills. Communicate progress with students’ parents and, using professional attitude at all times, communicate any concerns with all appropriate parties, including supervisors.

» J CAFÉ EXPRESS SALES (pdf) 
The J Café Attendant position staffs the JCC Lobby Snack and Beverage Cart; providing outstanding customer service to members and employees while facilitating a pleasant atmosphere for members and guests. Barista or hospitality experience is preferred but not required. Must be able to operate a computerized sales system and perform basic math skills. The successful candidate has the ability to confidently interact with a diverse population.

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

The JCC is conducting a search for full time (30 to 40 hours per week) and part time Early Childhood teachers (Lead / Co-Lead teachers & Assistant teachers). JCC preschool teachers sincerely enjoy and value young children and their education.  They appreciate the importance to both child and family of providing a safe environment that promotes the emotional, social, intellectual and physical development of infants and toddlers.  JCC Preschool teachers recognize that dependability and reliability contribute to the well being of the children in their care, as well as the cohesiveness of their classroom team.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work creatively and constructively with children and adults.  Demonstrating a deep appreciation for learning, s/he displays a professional and positive demeanor with the physical abilities to move, lift, carry, support and keep infants & toddlers safe.  S/he is articulate and able to communicate clearly and with appropriateness with both children and adults.

Required qualifications include: High school diploma or equivalent (some post high school education in early childhood development preferred). Teaching experience is preferred but not required.

The JCC needs Substitute Preschool Teachers at all three locations.  JCC preschool teachers sincerely enjoy and value young children and their education.  They appreciate the importance to both child and family of providing a safe environment that promotes the emotional, social, intellectual and physical development of young children.  JCC Substitute Preschool teachers recognize that dependability and reliability contribute to the well being of the classroom children and thoughtfully step in to fill the full time teacher’s role when absences occur.

Working from the absent teacher’s lesson plans, the Substitute Teacher works toward the Lead Teacher’s goal of providing a program of developmentally appropriate early childhood educational experiences that include art, music, movement, math, science and language with an emphasis on implementing the JCC Jewish Curriculum, Creative Curriculum, and Step Up to Quality Standards.

» BUS DRIVER POSITION (pdf)
Under the supervision of the Adult Activities Coordinator, the driver is responsible for safely transporting senior citizens and school age children according to a coordinated passenger schedule. Drives a 25-passenger bus, or its general equivalent, provides passenger assistance while entering and exiting vehicle when necessary. Follows specified instructions, procedures, and standards for the efficient and safe operation of the vehicle, and for the care and safety of passengers.

MARKETING & COMMUNICATION

Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer, the Marketing Manager drives membership acquisitions, registration and participation in all JCC programs, ensures the JCC has a clear and consistent voice, and maintains the JCC’s overall brand strategy. This position is responsible for creating, planning, developing, executing, and the ongoing management of the agency’s multi-channel marketing strategy and initiatives including but not limited to: email campaigns, social media, print marketing, website, and advertisements.

MEMBERSHIP

Working collaboratively with the Member Services’ team, serves JCC Members by promptly responding to inquiries, processing accounts, giving tours and assisting with full range of office administrative responsibilities.  Less than 19 Hours per week which includes a variety of Weekend, Evening, and Weekday hours

Work as camp counselors, special needs camp counselors, lifeguards, specialists and unit heads.
