Karen Bokor Hired as New Development Officer

The JCC is excited to welcome Karen Bokor to the JCC staff as the Development Officer, a newly created position which will focus on enhancing JCC endowments and planned giving. Bokor has a wealth of experience with development locally that she brings with her to the JCC. She began work on April 4.

“The ultimate goal is to help the JCC become self-sustainable,” says Bokor. “Find more grants and more funding, and develop endowments and planned giving further.”

Bokor’s most recent work has been creating a strategy for future development and planning at the Columbus Jewish Foundation. She has also served as Planning and Allocations VP for the Jewish Federation of Columbus. An architect by training, she is a Design Consultant for the City of Bexley. Bokor has served as a volunteer on the Boards of the JCC, Jewish Federation of Columbus, Columbus Jewish Foundation, the YWCA, Grant Hospital Development Board, and Bexley Education Foundation.

Bokor says it was probably her love of the JCC that attracted her most to the position. “My twins are 24 and grew up at the JCC. I grew up at the JCC in Dayton… It’s the core of all Jewish life.”
