In 2018, Israeli born, London based restauranteur and cookbook author, Yotam Ottolenghi was contacted by the Metropolitan Museum of Art with an unusual proposal; to bring the sumptuous art and decadence of Versailles to life in cake form.
As part of their “Vision of Versailles” exhibit, Ottolenghi and his team of star studded pastry chefs, create a true feast complete with an edible garden, architectural mousse cakes and swan pastries. Ottolenghi acts as our guide throughout, disassembling pastries to give us the history of ingredients that we now take for granted, like sugar and chocolate.
