Sunday Funday in the JCC K-Zone Teaches Kids all About the Festival of Purim
Sunday, March 2 kicked off a new partnership between the PJ Library and the JCC preschool with the inaugural Sunday Funday in the JCC’s K-Zone. 15 children attended, including two new to the PJ Library, a program that provides high quality books, CDs, educational materials and programming, all for FREE, to children ages 6 months to 8 years old.
At the first ever Sunday Funday, children made Purim masks, enjoyed dramatic play, played bean bag toss and listened to a story read by Carol Highfield, one of our very own preschool teachers. She read and acted out a PJ Library favorite, The Better-Than-Best Purim by Naomi Howland. The event concluded with all the kids getting to nosh on hamantaschen.
The K-Zone is a newly renovated room at the JCC that is designed for kids ages 6 and under. The Sunday Funday series is designed to teach children more about the Jewish holidays. The next program will celebrates Yom Ha’atzmaut in April.
