Post film Q&A with Nancy Spielberg moderated by Linda Kass.

Directed by Tom Shoval, Produced by Nancy Spielberg, Documentary, Israel/USA, 74 min, 2025, Hebrew & English with English subtitles

Filmmaker Tom Shoval crafts a personal cinematic letter to David Cunio, who was abducted by Hamas from Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7, 2023. Ten years ago, David and his twin brother Eitan starred in Shoval’s award- winning debut feature film Youth (Berlinale 2013), which focused on the powerful bond between brothers and, in a tragic and unimaginable twist of fate, revolved around a kidnapping. Through unedited behind-the-scenes footage and audition tapes from Youth, Shoval builds a multi-layered documentary that explores the inexplicable connections between life and cinema, memory and reality, and the catastrophic consequences of war.

Nancy Spielberg grew up immersed in filmmaking, working on her brother’s early films. In 2015, she produced Above and Beyond. She is the Executive Producer of Sophie Sartain’s Mimi and Donna, 2015. She is Executive Producer of Roberta Grossman’s Who Will Write Our History, 2017; of Dani Menkin’s films, On The Map, 2016; Picture of His Life, 2019; and Aulcie, 2020. Currently Nancy’s latest film, Letter To David– the story of actor David Cunio, who is still held hostage in Gaza-is on the festival circuit . Nancy also worked on her brother’s film, The Fabelmans.
