BELLY DANCING

Belly dancing is a torso-driven dance with emphasis on movement of the hips. This class will work your abs and teach you the control and movement needed for belly dancing. It is a low-impact total body workout and is great for any fitness level. A belly dancing scarf is included with this class.

Instructor Kelley Morris was formerly in the Crescent Moon dance troupe and was the founder & choreographer of the Gypsy Gems dance troupe. Join her for a fun and non-judgmental atmosphere to learn the basics of the art form.

Adult Tap Dance

Were you a dancer as a child? Did you always want to learn tap? This class is going to go through the basics of tap dancing. Tap dancing sharpens reflexes, and improves memory and coordination. Participants must have tap shoes. Instructor Tonya Kraner is an accomplished choreographer, dance instructor, and performer. With some self-confidence and patience, she believes everyone can dance!

Ballroom Dance - tango & cha cha

Students will learn a variety of elegant and rhythmic dances, from the Tango to the Cha Cha. Expert instructors guide participants through proper footwork, posture, and partnering techniques, ensuring a fulfilling dance experience for all skill levels.

You do not need a partner to participate. Each person must sign up individually.

intro to Tai Chi

Tai Chi is an exercise that involves a series of slow gentle physical movements, a meditative state of mind, and controlled breathing. Participants will learn some basic movements of Yang Style Tai Chi. Class is suitable for all regardless of physical level or experience.

Taught by Mark Henry. He is a certified instructor of the Dr. Paul Lam Tai Chi for Health Program. He has studied Martial Arts for over 40 years in Chinese Combative Kenpo Karate (Second-Degree Black Belt), Tomiki Style Aikido, and Chang Style Tai Chi Chuan. Mark concentrates on the health benefits of Tai Chi and helping individuals improve their health and lives through movement.

Intermediate Tai Chi

In the Intermediate class, you will learn advanced hand and footwork as well as more complicated movements. Your balance will be taken to another level. Fluid motion and intentional movements will perfect the basic techniques you learned in
the fundamentals class. The Intermediate Tai Chi class will also take you deeper into the cognitive aspects of Tai Chi, taking you through more in-depth meditation and breath control techniques.

Weightlifting Essentials

Build foundational knowledge about movements valuable for sports and everyday movement (Push, Pull, Hinge, and Squat) Strengthen injury-prone joints through targeted strengthening exercises. Learn how to create a workout program you can follow safely and effectively.

Mason Dorrian first started training at the Ohio State University. Since getting started in 2021, Mason has created and/or led small group classes such as Weightlifting Foundations, Progressive Overload Training, Bodybuilding Foundations, and BuckeyePT Prep in addition to helping 1 on 1 clients reach their fitness goals.

Boxing Circuit Training

This will be an intense boxing-based class that uses H.I.I.T – High Intensity Interval Training. Our boxing instructor will lead you through rounds of different punches and combos. You will receive a high level of cardio, muscle strength training and use quick reflexes. This class will utilize the punching bags, boxing mitts and weight equipment. No boxing gloves required but recommended.

JCC Fitness madness 2024

HOW IT WORKS:

  • There will be 8 teams captained by JCC staff.
  • You will be able to earn points toward the championship by completing various fitness challenges at the J.
  • Prizes will be awarded to the champions of the JCC Madness Bracket!
