Camp Hoover

4 sessions beginning june 14  |  for Campers Entering 4th – 7th grade

Camp Hoover at JCamps is an outdoor-focused summer camp. Nestled on the east side of the Hoover Reservoir in Westerville, Camp Hoover brings to life traditional summer camp values including building character and confidence, developing relationships and, most of all, having fun.

We offer a traditional day camp experience with both pool and lakefront. This creates an opportunity for our campers to participate daily in free swim in our pool and choices of kayaking and canoeing at the waterfront. Other outdoor adventure areas include low and high ropes course, sports court, archery, arts & crafts, and more. Each activity is built around safety, fun, and learning.

At Camp Hoover, campers are encouraged to…

• Develop social skills and leadership qualities • Deepen their appreciation of nature • Be adventurous by trying new things

Values

At Camp Hoover, we create from the foundations of Jewish values and build our experience through safety, fun, and learning.

JCamps operate under a set of Jewish Core Values to help us achieve our vision and mission. These values strengthen the foundation of our day camps, establish a stronger Jewish learning environment, and provide set guidelines for our staff on how to plan more effectively. Furthermore, campers and staff gain a stronger sense of ownership of their own Jewish exploration that can be carried over to everyday life.

This starts with the camper discovering a sense of self, and in turn a sense of belonging to the JCC & Community. Belonging to something bigger than one’s self helps to form a safe space for children to grow.

We make our campers, staff, and families feel at home the minute they arrive by encouraging connections. Our welcoming environment allows everyone to feel safe, included and comfortable, heightening our campers’ experiences.

We create balance in each individual’s life by nurturing each person, including spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical needs.

Our camps are the perfect place to promote a sense of shared community and belonging while connecting our campers, staff & families to Judaism and Israel.

We provide the opportunity for campers to be nurtured in an environment of kindness and respect. Campers, staff and families learn the importance of kindness through peer modeling, positive reinforcement, and creative programming.

“Our goals should be to live life in the radical amazement…get up in the morning and look at the world in a way that takes nothing for granted. Everything is phenomenal; everything is incredible; never treat life casually.”

– Rabbi Abraham Joshual Heschel

Fun

Summer is meant to be fun. With all the challenges and changes in the past year for schools and families, we look forward to hosting traditional summer camp activities in nature.

Learning

When we operate from safety and fun, learning is a natural progression of development. Whether learning a new camp cheer, a new knot, or the name of a new friend, camp is an open canvas for gathering new knowledge.

Staff

Our staff are trained to encourage children to grow and play. With the focus of safety, fun and learning, the staff organize daily and weekly activities to keep kids engaged. The Hoover staff are hand selected base on their skills, leadership, and devotion are the ruach or spirit of camp.
We look forward to creating memories together in our natural environment through our Jewish Values and on the foundation of safety, fun, and learning.
