Forced to leave his fabulous city life behind and move in with his grandparents after a bad breakup, twenty-something Nate thinks he might go mad within the confines of a retirement community. The fact that his loving grandparents are constantly trying to ‘improve’ him doesn’t help, either. But when his Holocaust-surviving grandfather, Saul, has a medical crisis, Nate finds himself torn between his desire to flee, family responsibilities, and an unexpected romance with his grandparents’ handsome doctor.
Starring Oscar-winner F. Murray Abraham (Amadeus) and Caroline Aaron (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) Bookends is a deeply affecting comedy about how people on opposite ends of time’s journey are, perhaps ironically, best suited to help each other embrace life.
